Bell Custom 500 Helmet When it comes to copying that old school style, nothing can touch an original. First appearing in 1954, the 500 was Bell founder Roy Richters first at attempt at a fiberglass helmet. Not only was the Bell 500 an instant and iconic success, but it launched Bell into becoming a helmet industry leader. Bells Custom 500 pays tribute to Richters original design and yet brings it up to modern protective standards while still keeping the original look and soul. By combining a custom fiberglass layup with a specially designed EPS foam layer, Bell engineers were able to craft a helmet that is at once light weight, narrow in profile, and DOT-compliant.
